This Month's Lovers

I love the smell of the lime trees in June. I love the feeling of a silk dress on my bare legs. I love to wander aimlessly on the streets of Bucharest. I love the soft cool wind of the summer nights. I love the way your hair curls on your neck. I love ice-cream on a hot day. I love the hot days. I love ice-cream anytime. I love blue. I love the blue sky that makes me feel so little and insignificant. I love green tea with lemon and ice. I love the smell of the lake under the early sunset, when I return home. I like the end of a working day, when everything goes quiet.

I love MSN. I love AXN. I love Moeciu. I love the Viennese waltz and the jive. I love cha-cha-cha, salsa, tango, merengue. I love bachata. I love the way we dance the bachata. I love the ocean. I love the bitter-sweet memories of a summer week in Madrid. I love you. I love cold showers and cinnamon body lotion. I love cinnamon. I love strawberries, cherries and peaches. I love strawberries and cream. I love whiskey cream. I love wind bells. I love Garcia Marquez' "Cien años de soledad". I love cooking. I love cooking for you.

I love pink nail polish. I love fresh bed linen. I love white clothes. I love modeling your naked skin with my hands. I love to sleep naked with the window opened to let the night in. I love the summer nights. I love books and movies. I love making up stories. I love the boats on the Cismigiu lake. I love the vanilla scent in the Crangasi metro station. I love the way you laugh and the way you make me laugh. I love planes and the places they can take you. I love dreams and the planets they can make you fly to.

I love red roses that do not smell, and the May lilies. I love solitude. I love your morning kisses. I love happy tears and hope. I love football. I love turtles. I love tomatoes. I love chocolate. I love sand, and self-tanning lotion. I love forgetting and remembering. I love the future. I love June.

Así estoy yo sin ti

For the one I love...

Train Station

There are times in our lives when we need to decide. We stop on our journey, and we have two roads ahead, and whether we make the correct choice, only time can tell. The only thing we know is that we cannot just stay there, waiting for the future to happen, or for others to decide for us.

I have been waiting for something to happen. I don't know what, I just waited... I've been on a journey for quite some time, without getting anywhere in particular, just wandering around senseless. Now, I believe I have reached that place that makes me feel safe, secure in some way, although, as every new beginning, it has some risks. I feel like I have been traveling on a train, on which I felt good being miserable. (I know it's absurd, but I was actually feeling perfect when I was sad). Now, I had to stop in this station, and asked to decide between the past and the future. Between miserable and the hope to be happy. Between desperation, foolishness, never ending still impossible dreams, and a reality more concrete, more touchable, and more fulfilling than I ever thought it might be.

And although logic always told me what to do, for a long time my heart contradicted me. Now, logic and heart, they both say the same. And I have chosen to move forward and to be happy, because as overrated as happiness may be, it is most sure preferable than tears. And although I adore being unhappy, because it makes me creative, it's my special artistic state of mind, I have reached the conclusion that I am no Sylvia Plath, and I actually like being alive and smiling.

So, I am facing happiness, one so complete, that I don't have to wonder every day whether it's real or not, whether tomorrow it will go away, whether it will last. Right now, I feel home. Spiritually, home. And you know what? I'm starting to learn that smiling can be an every day activity, and that it's not damaging to my face (hehehehe).

This goes for you... baila conmigo...

Fishisms, Mcbealisms... and Me in Between

I told you before I like "Ally McBeal". I also told you that I find myself in the character, and most of the time I associate myself with her. Well, I've started watching it again, took out my dvd-s. Anyways, this is a reason to post some of the best fishisms, mcbealisms and "snappish" quotes, some of which, of course, I relate to.

Ally McBeal: I like being a mess. It's who I am.

Ally McBeal: Even if I did get past all my problems, I'm just gonna get out and get new ones.

Ally McBeal: Maybe I'm happy and I just don't know it.

Ally McBeal: The real truth is, I probably don't want to be too happy or content. Because, then what? I actually like the quest, the search. That's the fun. The more lost you are, the more you have to look forward to. What do you know? I'm having a great time and I don't even know it.

Ally McBeal: There's no sin in loving men. Only pain!

Ally McBeal: You only die once!

Ally McBeal: Law and love are the same - romantic in concept but the actual practice can give you a yeast infection.

Ally McBeal: Men are like gum anyway - after you chew they lose their flavor.

Ally McBeal: The idea that when people come together, they stay together. I have to take that with me when I'm going to bed at night, Even if I'm going to bed alone. That's a McBealism.

Ally McBeal: Sometimes... there's no point in the truth if the only thing it will do is cause pain.

Ally McBeal: Wow... I have a boyfriend.

Ally McBeal: Here I am, the victim of my own choices. And I'm just starting.

Ally McBeal: Sometimes...when you hold out for everything, you walk away with nothing.

Ally McBeal: Today is going to be a...less bad day. I can feel it. Sometimes I wake up and know everything is going to be...less bad.

Ally McBeal: If you think back and replay your year, if it doesn't bring you tears either of joy or sadness, consider it wasted.

Ally McBeal: If women really wanted to change society, they could do it. I plan to change it. I just want to get married first.

Ally McBeal: How do I get myself into these things?

Ally McBeal: You can't win the raffle if you don't at least by a ticket.

Ally McBeal: Whoever said that plenty of fish in the sea thing was lying.
Sometimes there's only one fish. Trust me.

Ally McBeal: How did I get to be such a mess so soon in my life?

Ally McBeal: I know I've got it great, really, good job, good friends, loving family, total freedom, and long bubblebaths. What else could there be?

Ally McBeal: Who wants to be balanced? Balance is overrated!

Ally McBeal: There are some people who meet that somebody that they can never stop loving, no matter how hard they try. ... there are some loves that don't go away. And maybe that makes them crazy, but we should all be lucky enough to end up with somebody who has a little of that insanity. Someone who never lets go. Someone who cherishes you forever.

Georgia Thomas: Ally, what makes your problems so much bigger than everybody else's?
Ally McBeal: They're mine.

Renée Radick: Snow White. Cinderella. All about gettin' a guy. Being saved by the guy. Today it's the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocahontas. All about gettin' a guy.
Ally McBeal: So basically we're screwed up because of...
Renée Radick: Disney.

Judge Jennifer "Whipper" Cone: No, I don't think you're nuts, but I don't think that you have both feet on the ground either.
Ally McBeal: You mean some people do?

Ally McBeal: Love isn't always enough.
Larry: Yeah, it is. You go without it long enough and you realize it's everything.

Richard Fish: You're not who you are, you're only what other people think you are. Fishism.

Richard Fish: "Problem" is just a bleak word for challenge.

Richard Fish: Everybody's alone. It's just easier to take in a relationship.

Richard Fish: Helping others is never more rewarding than when it's in your own self interest.

Richard Fish: Let me tell you something. I didn't become a lawyer because I like the law; the law sucks. It's boring, but it can also be used as a weapon. You want to bankrupt somebody? Cost him everything he's worked for? Make his wife leave him, even make his kids cry? Yeah, we can do that.

Richard Fish: Make enough money, and everything else will follow. Quote me. That's a Fishism.

Richard Fish: You know, I had a great aunt once who said if you stare at a beautiful woman too long, you turn to stone. She was partially right.

Richard Fish: John? John, y- you got the biggest booger. Oh, sorry, it's a frog. Bygones.

Richard Fish: Love is an equation, a me and a you derives a we."

Richard Fish: Never trust a second thought. Where there is two there is three. You will end up thinking forever.

Richard Fish: Personal questions don't bother me. I just lie.

Richard Fish: Sex for me, when it's right it's right. When it's wrong, it's still right. Fishism.

Georgia Thomas: Well, by all means let's hear your opinion, Richard.
Richard Fish: Simple. Men and women. Friction.
Georgia Thomas: That's it? Friction?
Richard Fish: Friction, friction, friction, orgasm. Fishism. Are we going to dance or not?

John "The Biscuit" Cage: The world is no longer a romantic place. Some of its people still are however, and therein lies the promise. Don't let the world win, Ally McBeal.

John "The Biscuit" Cage: I'm not going through an odd phase, I really am odd.

John "The Biscuit" Cage: Men lie to get women into bed. Women lie to get men into matrimony. Those are the simple facts of life.

John "The Biscuit" Cage: I need to take a moment.

John "The Biscuit" Cage: Unacceptable!

John "The Biscuit" Cage: Repugnant!

John "The Biscuit" Cage: Balls!

John "The Biscuit" Cage: I will not stand to be disparaged.

John "The Biscuit" Cage: I'm troubled.

John "The Biscuit" Cage: I'm drawn to her.

Notes

I haven't been writing anything personal in a long time. Although the last two songs I posted were very personal... but you know what I mean. It's maybe because I am happy. Dunno why... or do I? Things are starting to happen, to move in one way or the other. At least I am becoming more and more... settled, although things are far from being perfect.

I was home this week, I had to change my ID card, cause it expired (for 3 weeks, I am a person with no identity. How cool is that?! ) Anyways, it was kinda boring. I missed Piatra, and it is sooo beautiful this time of the year. But still, nothing you can actually do there. All my friends are now in Bucharest, and my grandparents from my mom's side are in Canada, so there was only my father and my grandma from my dad's side. Who, of course, wants to see me married. She gave me a time limit of two years. Imagine that... Plus, she wants me to marry someone close to home. Yeah, right... It's funny though, to see her struggle, and I loove making fun of her . I have reached the conclusion that I am still a kid in some ways, I went through a scary experience yesterday and realized that I am not mature enough to take responsibilities... so my granny will have to wait a long time until I actually take a step like that. Plus, until this moment, I didn't find anyone I would actually want to marry .

I got promoted at work. I hope I'll do a good job. We shall see about that, it's only been a few weeks.

Some movies I've seen lately: Spiderman 3 (DO NOT make the same mistake I did, it's a total failure... oh, no, actually the scene when Spiderman cries is kinda funny ). TMNT - Teen Mutant Ninja Turtles (I saw it yesterday evening, really funny, if you like cartoons you will love this). The Promise (a Chinese movie, fantastic, quite good - I liked it very much). I am waiting for Shrek the Third and Pirates .

And on a more personal note... my mother would have turned 49 today. I miss her deeply... So, Happy Birthday, mom!

Fico assim sem você - Claudinho e Buchecha

Avião sem asa,
Fogueira sem brasa,
Sou eu assim sem você;

Sou eu assim sem você;
Circo sem palhaço,
Namoro sem amasso,
Sou eu assim sem você.

Tô louca pra te ver chegar,
Tô louca pra te ter nas mãos,
Deitar no teu abraço,
Retomar o pedaço
Que falta no meu coração

Eu não existo longe de você
E a solidão é o meu pior castigo
Eu conto as horas pra poder te ver
Mas o relógio tá de mal comigo...
Por quê? Por quê?

Neném sem chupeta,
Romeu sem Julieta,
Sou eu assim sem você;

E a solidão é o meu pior castigo,
Eu conto as horas pra poder te ver

Milano, 22 aprile 2007: l'Inter è Campione d'Italia. È la realtà il nostro sogno.

(inter.it)

MILANO, 22 aprile 2007 - L'Inter è campione d'Italia.
Innamorati. A prescindere.

Thanks to the defined structure of Casino, appeared the popular Rueda de Casino, a type of choreography in circle form that is made by several pairs of dancers, guided by a leader who "sings" the movements.....

In order to speak of the antecedents of the Rueda de Casino it is necessary to go back to the reign of Luis XIV in France where the first ballets first appeared. As of that moment they instituted "ballets de corte". In order to have a good title it was necessary to know certain choreographies that were performed in the celebrations of the nobility. Clear examples: the Minuet and the Contradanzas.

In the XVIII century, with the presence of French fleets in the bay of Havana, the arrival of emigrants of Louisiana, New Orleans and fundamentally the French emigration coming from Haiti with the 1791 revolution produced the appearance in Cuba of the French Contradanzas and derived from this the Cuban Contradanza arises. The court of Luis XIV, the Creole aristocracy, Spanish and including the town interpreted the dance with pre-planned figures that all had to know and directed by a bastonero.

There have been contradiction between the informants of the place where casino fist appeared. Some say that it first appeared in the Spanish Casino, Grammar school of Havana, the Patricio Lumumba and others say in the Sport Casino; what is true is that it expanded throughout the capital.

Rueda de Casino became a national phenomenon after Rosendo, choreographer and dancer of the “Ballet de la Televisión Cubana”, presented it in the televising program Para Bailar in 1980.

In orde to make a Rueda, there must be at least two couples, a leader, and that all " men " know the figures that he is going to sing. It is deduced, that the sprouting of the wheel has a social and group character. Rueda de Casino is done between friends and its main intention is diversion. Although, when acquiring the ability to dance in a Rueda, the competition starts between Ruedas and dancers: " The one that makes a mistake gets out of the Rueda " this constitutes diversion with a certain sense of responsibility.

If one is dancing Rueda for diversion, it does not matter, generally, if you are make a mistake, you do not know what "they sing", or if you invent a turn to solve the situation. It is very common to make a Rueda de Casino in private parties, meetings with friends, and, of ourse, in the dance floors.

The second case: the competitions between Ruedas, more typical in the dance floors where each group prepares its Rueda and its calls. The peculiar thing is that after they danced, they were their own judges.

The third case " The one that loses leaves ", as its name says, the leader calls and tries to deceive the dancers so that they lose, if they make a mistake they leave along their partner, or if the leader makes a mistake when calling "out of time", he also leaves and is replaced by other leader.

In order to dance in a Rueda it is necessary to ask permission to the leader, he can approve it or not since this is a group manifestation. Another " democratic" way to disapprove the entrance of another couple is declaring " The one that loses leaves ". This consists of letting the couple enter and immediately singing a move that is only known by the group, evidently the unliked pair makes a mistaken and leaves.

The graduation of a casino dancer is to learn the Rueda. Therefore, in order to dance, it is necessary to first dominate casino. It is true to say then that if the couple dominate casino perfectly, they could dance Rueda de Casino with their eyes closed.

In the Rueda, the figures are executed by the men and the women constitute the base. The women maintain the circular structure and the rythm and the men do the "piruetas (turns)", the changes and the improvisations.

A Rueda de Casino is good not necessarily if the dancers are making complicated turns, but it depends on the skill of the leader. A leader must "sing" the Rueda with grace, creativity, respecting the times and continuity, because it would be possible to be turned into a disorganized Rueda for the dancers as for the spectators. A good leader is able to create figures in the moment and is able to precisely communicate them to the other dancers. Also a good leader adorns the calls with a phrase, Ex: "Oye ella te quiere apretar, pero tu le dices que no".

If the Rueda has too many couples, it is possible to make a Rueda inside a Rueda. But, above all, with or without a strict organization of a Rueda, remember that the entire purpose of the Rueda is to have fun with your friends.

The following are some examples of Rueda calls: Setenta, Panque, Evelyn, Enchufla, BeBe, and much, much more.

Easter Thoughts

It's Easter - the resurrection of Jesus Christ. A time to meditate and question what you really believe in.

I might be called a skeptic. I stopped believing in a great and good God when my mother died. I could not understand at the moment, and still cannot understand, why she was not saved. My mother was a very good person, she was sweet, and tolerant, and always lived her life trying to make things better for the people around her. She was the best friend anyone could ever want, the best daughter, sister, wife, and of course, mother. Unfortunately, I haven't' really appreciated her for what she deserved, and this is my only regret in life up to now. And she was a very good doctor. She always placed herself last, and put her own needs and wants in a box, waiting there until she helped all others.

This is why I cannot understand why she had to die. Why do murderers, rapers, and other bad people live, while good people die? If there is a God, and if that God is good, why does He allow for this to happen?

I was talking to a friend of mine, who is quite religious, and told him I don't really believe in God. He told me... "But you have to believe in something!" Yes, I believe in humans. I believe in the power of men to change everything. Why do people have to believe in something supernatural, in an entity with such great power, that It can make and unmake the world? We live in the 21st century and science has already contradicted so many of the things the Bible states. So, why 99% of the people in this world still think we do not have the power to rule ourselves? Why do we still have wars led by religion? Are we so afraid of taking it all on us, that we have to blame a higher entity, be it God (or Allah, Buddha,...) or the Devil? Why do we NEED to believe in something? Why are there still people in this world who look at you as if you were the antichrist, if you tell them you are an atheist?

I said I was a skeptic. Maybe I am the worse kind. I don't know where I'm standing. On one hand, I think that the world is a result of particles interacting with each other, and men don't have an immortal soul and once they die, they become part of that particle movement. On the other hand, I sometimes believe there is a God, and I find myself praying. I do have a personal vendetta with divinity, because of the reasons I stated at the beginning. And I admit, christianity is not giving me the answers I am looking for. I will never agree with the statement "believe, do not search"; in my opinion, this is a way for the Church to control the masses. But, in the same time, real world and science are not providing all the answers either.

I am still searching. I hate being persuaded to adopt either of the two ways, but I'd rather accept the realistic, material philosophy, than the spiritual one. I am not trying to convince other people either. I think it's stupid for someone to try to persuade another on accepting his/her way of thinking. But my desire is to see people actually questioning what they are believing in, and not just accepting religion because this is the way, this is what they were told to by their families, or this is what the society is living by.
